Based on slapstick comedies from the 30s, 40s, and 50s, the play included a Texas oil baron and his trophy wife, a famous female author, grieving sisters, railroad porters, a femme fatale, and rail henchmen intent on derailing the train. Honeymoon on the Rusted Rail was our first, original farce! It was a tale of murder, hidden identities, grifters, writers, and possible train derailments.

A large cast and a lot of fun

Honeymoon on the Rusted Rail was really just an excuse to get together all of our regular volunteers and have a lot of fun on stage. The show was meant to be light, breezy and with lots of slapstick and people falling down. The production was full of hilarious cast practices, nights out after full of buffalo wings, inside stories and times with friends that won’t be soon forgotten. Honeymoon also has the legacy of having its own original sequel, The Last Voyage of Ginormic where the side characters of T and Dinah got their chance to lead the show. Our friends at the Historic Homestake Opera House in Lead even staged their own production of Honeymoon on the Rusted Rail a few years after its initial run with much of the original production in attendance. Not bad for an original comedy full of friends.
