BFACT had an exciting opportunity for those who wanted to learn how to act on stage, or those just wishing to brush up on their skills. On July 20th, 2024 there was an acting workshop laying out the basics of acting on stage and the building blocks of creating a character, and it was a hit!

After playing a few fun warm-up games, the participants got to learn about GOTE and how it’s the basis for all things acting! GOTE (Which stands for Goals, Obstacles/Other, Tactics and Expectations) helps actors identify their characters motives throughout a show and can really help elevate scene work! Actors also spent time learning the fundamentals such as stage types, stage directions and the components of a stage. Actors also got the opportunity to practice what they learned using scenes and scenarios.

This workshop taught people how to be comfortable on stage, know how to play to your audience, and practice some small scenes. There was also some instruction on breaking down monologues.
